Case Studies > Hot Water for Caravan Parks
Overview
A luxurious Cornish Caravan Park approached TES in 2008 to provide an energy saving solution to their hot water and heating requirements. Their existing hot water demand was costing in the region of £11K/per annum and with ever rising fuel costs they were seeking a cheaper option.

The Solution
TES designed a heating system which utilised a 60kW ground source heat pump providing hot water and underfloor heating at a saving of over £7K per annum.

Outcome
A cost effective, energy saving solution, easy installation without major upheaval and a design which would be of interest to numerous other similar sites.
Technical Details
Water is heated to 45ºC & stored in a cylinder pasteurised daily
A 3100L cylinder is utilised, heated & emptied four times daily
The cylinder is heated with a 60kW heat pump, operating twice daily for nominally four hours each period.
The heat pump is supplied by the borehole at a rate of around 100-120L/min
The waste water from the heat pump is circulated around the site to regain heat from the ground
The underfloor heating load is taken from an indirect coil in the cylinder and is circulated round the system at 45ºC
The heat from the waste water from the showers is recovered and used to preheat the cold water feed to the storage tank
